CARE S

Jewelry is a delicate piece that requires careful care to remain beautiful and safe. No matter how perfect the creation, misuse often causes pieces to lose their shine, tarnish, or even break and lose their stones.

Here are some care tips to keep your jewelry looking beautiful, safe, and new.

HOW TO PRESERVE

  • Always store your jewelry in well-ventilated places.
  • Store them individually to avoid friction and scratches. You can store them in suitable cases, such as your LOXUS case or velvet pouch.
  • Emeralds, mother-of-pearl and pearls require special care as they should not be stored in humid or excessively dry environments.

HOW TO CLEAN

  • On a daily basis, just a clean, dry cloth is enough to clean them and remove any traces of sweat, perfume or makeup that could accelerate the oxidation process.
  • When necessary, that is, very occasionally, we can clean it with water and a minimum of mild detergent if there is any trace of grease or visible dirt (this does not apply to pearls, which are porous). Use a very soft brush to scrub them and avoid chemicals. Dry them with a soft cloth or tissue.

WHAT WE SHOULD AVOID

  • Don't wear jewelry while doing household chores or sports. It can be damaged by chemicals, strong blows, or the action of uric acid released through sweat, accelerating its oxidation process.
  • Avoid washing your hands or showering while wearing jewelry. Soap temporarily dulls its shine, leaving it looking "foggy." Gemstones are also sensitive to heat and thermal shock, and the chemicals in bath products can tarnish them.
  • Avoid wearing perfume, lotions, or sunscreens while wearing jewelry. When using these products or any other cosmetics, remove your jewelry and wait a few minutes for the product to dry. Only put it back on when your skin is dry, as these products can cause irreversible damage.
  • Remove your jewelry before going to the ocean or pool. It's not only easy to lose your jewelry in these places, but the chlorine can also damage it.
  • Do not soak your jewelry in boiling water or with chemicals such as detergents.

SPECIAL CARE

JEWELRY WITH TURQUOISE, OPAL AND/OR AGATE

  • Avoid contact with water and oil. Clean them with a flannel or chamois. If very dirty, turquoise can be cleaned with a little alcohol.

PEARL JEWELRY

  • Pearls and mother-of-pearl should be cleaned with dry flannels or cotton, especially after use. To add shine, they can be gently rubbed with pure, high-quality olive oil or almond oil before use.
